Version 1.8.5
Highlights
- A library pointed at a folder with loose model files at its top level could end up filing every new top-level folder under one of those files' records. The app now repairs this on launch and tells you what it moved.
- Importing a library folder onto itself is refused before anything runs. With Replace and Overwrite Files turned on, this used to delete the folder's files.
- Dropping files on the Library crumb now says why nothing moved and how to move them instead.
Improvements
- Scanning a library root (first run, Add Drive, Re-scan) now moves loose model files found at its top level into that drive's Loose Files folder — the same thing the live watcher already did for files dropped there later. Before, each loose file became its own top-level card, and one of those cards could capture new folders you added later (see Bug Fixes below).
- Dropping files on the Library crumb, or cutting files and pasting at the top level, now shows: "Files can't go directly in Library. To move a file to another folder: cut it (Ctrl+X), open that folder, then paste (Ctrl+V)." Folders in the same drag or paste still move normally.
- Every local file deletion the app performs is now written to the log regardless of the verbose-logging setting, so a vanished folder can be reconstructed from the default log.
Bug Fixes
- Fixed a library bug where a root with loose model files at its top level could file newly created top-level folders under one of those files' records instead of at the top level. On launch, the app now finds any folders affected by this, moves the misfiled folders back to the top level, moves the loose files into Loose Files, and shows one message: "Library repaired: N folders moved to the top level, M files moved into Loose Files." It runs on every launch, does nothing when there's nothing to fix, and runs whether or not Smart Library Folders is on. Cloud copies of the moved files are renamed in place — no re-upload.
- Fixed dragging a top-level folder onto the Library crumb when it was already at the top level failing with "Source and destination path must be different." It now just reparents the folder.
- Fixed importing a library folder onto itself. The Import dialog marks the row in red ("This folder is already in your library at this location — drag it to a new folder to move it instead of importing it") and disables Import; the import itself refuses too if reached another way. Per file, a file whose destination is itself is never replaced or renamed, no matter which duplicate-handling setting is on — previously, with Replace and Overwrite Files, this deleted the folder's files.
- Fixed deleting a folder record whose location is the library folder itself — it's now refused with a message instead of going through. (A restart repairs the underlying record; see above.)
- Fixed a cloud bug where expired credentials used for the backup lineage check weren't refreshed like every other cloud operation. The check failed repeatedly with a permissions error, logging two warnings every 30 seconds for as long as the app ran, and database backups were skipped the whole time. It now refreshes credentials the same way everything else does, logs the skip once, and logs once when backups resume.
- Fixed cut files pasted at the library's top level being silently dropped from the clipboard when the paste was refused. The cut now stays on the clipboard so pasting into an actual folder still works.
